My neighbor, a devout non-denominational Christian, writes a Christmas letter that is a bit of “our trials this year strengthened us and gave us hope” but I couldn’t put my finger on it until I read your piece. Somehow you popped up on my Facebook feed today, My Sisters, The Saints, was an absolutely transformational book for me when I came across it many years ago and I’m so happy to find you on Substack. Merry Christmas :)

I read somewhere that, Life is to live the Passion (of Christ); I paraphrase yet this is the gist of it, and it made perfect sense. When we come of age -in the sense that we are truly aware of Christ in our lives- it is then that we can walk with Christ and indeed in His footsteps toward Calvary. The Old Missal reminds us beautifully of this, explaining that every dismissal after Mass is a command sending us out to "our post on Calvary, to continue the Redemption of the world."
